"Were swim classes helpful for your child? Any tips for parents of kids who are afraid of the water? What about for parents who are afraid of the water themselves?" more

Terry Ramer, Apr 21, 2009, 9:23PM EDTI have no idea how this all works with Gather and you - but I am going to give it a shot since I do not know where to recommend my daughter get help! Her baby is a breast baby and he is 5 months old today. To say he is a fussy baby is to put it mildly - he complains a LOT . . and this doesn't seem to be gas or whatever . . .he cries when he is in a new place - he cries when she tries to run with him in his stroller - and often gets so angry that he is inconsolable and won't even nurse. If there is ANYTHING going on around him, he has to look - even to the point that sometimes she has to take him to a dark room - others he won't calm after he gets "wound up" for even her most patient whispered words. She was just over here after an incomplete trip in the park due to his cries. (And he was just fine when he went into the stroller) The doc says there is nothing wrong - the only thing we have both seen physically is a persistent eye "infection" leaving his eyes gooey and crusty. He has been treated as if this is a clogged tear duct and again for an infection. It persists and turns green . . .She is calling again about that tomorrow and I asked her to talk to them about his fussiness. She is a stay at home mom and is incredibly patient. Her husband works at home also so there is lots of support. He seems to be happiest when he is in a carrier with her - but can be just as fussy then too at times. She is about at her wit's end. I am volunteering to keep him for her several days a week so she can exercise but I am leery of his fussing (to the point of "losing" his breath as he gets so mad!) This has actually happened since he was a newborn - she is just patient as a saint. . .Any suggestions, sites or just words of wisdom? He appears to be normal in every way - he is small, only weighing 12 pounds at 5 months: he was only 5/10 oz at birth but appears to have normal growth and dev (I am an OLD pediatric nurse) - thanks//terry

Ross N., Oct 14, 2008, 3:07AM EDTHi,
The reason that using fans for ventilation improves the chances of avoiding SIDS is because pheromones reach detectable levels only in plumes. High winds disrupt pheromone plumes, so ...
See my article describing the pheromone cause of SIDS in Medical Hypotheses 2001 Pheromones Cause Disease: pheromone/odourant transduction, page 374. -
